Doing your own shopping is more than getting food in the house. You get outside, see familiar faces and keep your own rhythm. With a rollator and the right support, that is often possible for longer than you think.
Tips for walking safely with a rollator
- Have the handles set at the right height: your arms are slightly bent when you stand upright.
- Always use the brakes when you sit down or take something from a shelf.
- Choose quiet times to shop and plan a place to rest on the way.
- Wear sturdy, closed shoes and have heavy groceries delivered.
Preventing falls starts at home
Many falls happen at home: a loose rug, a threshold or too little light. Our carers pay attention to this during their visits and discuss with you what could be improved. We help with washing and dressing, so you start the day rested and safe.
How do you get a rollator?
You usually borrow or buy a rollator through a home care shop. Your supplementary insurance sometimes covers part of it. If you need more help to stay independent, we look together at which scheme fits: the Health Insurance Act, the Wmo of your municipality, the Wlz or a personal budget (pgb).
